Why an independent consultant

A consultant is not a broker and not an insurer. We do not place cover, we do not carry risk, and we take no commission from any insurance company. What we sell is the opinion — which means the opinion has nothing riding on it except whether it turns out to be right.

That independence is what makes the work useful. When we say a wording should be amended, a limit is too low, or a quotation is better than it looks, there is no placement behind the advice and no revenue attached to the outcome. The client is free to act on the recommendation with whichever broker or insurer they choose.

More about the firm

How an engagement runs

Every engagement runs the same four stages, whatever its size. The deliverable is always written, and it always names the reasoning behind each recommendation.

  1. Scope

We agree what is being examined and what the study has to answer, in writing, before any work starts. Fees are fixed against that scope.

  2. Study

We gather the policies, valuations, loss history and contracts, and examine them against the exposure the business actually carries.

  3. Report

You receive a written report: what the current arrangement does, where it falls short, what should change, and what each change is worth.

  4. Follow-through

We stay with the recommendation while it is implemented — through your broker, your insurer, or a tender we help you specify.

Seven ISO certifications

Independently audited standards covering quality, information security, business continuity, risk management and how we handle complaints.

Quality, security and risk management held to seven audited international standards.

What each standard covers

Our values

Six principles that guide and nurture our business, and that a client should be able to hold us to.

Our main objective is to support our clients in making the right decision to achieve long-term success. In each service we provide we aim to contribute to our clients’ pursuit of their objectives, through a deep understanding of their various needs and business strategies, offering the solutions that let them reach the highest performance and the best results.

  • Integrity and credibility

We are always keen to build mutual trust and credibility with all our clients by working to the highest levels of professionalism. We are proud of our credibility with all our stakeholders — customers, partners, regulators and society at large.

  • Excellence

We strive to lead the field of insurance consulting services and to provide the highest level of service to all our clients. Our excellence is what encourages clients to work with us, after the successes we have achieved in this field.

  • Commitment

Commitment is one of the principles we follow across all our business activities. We are committed to supporting our clients in taking the right decisions at all times and providing them with innovative and distinctive services, and to cooperating with our clients, all stakeholders and the society we work in towards a better tomorrow.

  • Quality

KIHC is known for offering the highest standards of quality in all the services and solutions we provide, to a wide range of clients — individuals and organisations alike. We play a pivotal role in supporting our clients to reach their objectives, and offer them the support they need at every stage and in every circumstance.

  • Our role towards society

As a leading Kuwaiti corporation, one of our major objectives is to educate society — emerging companies, organisations of all sizes and individuals — about the various types of insurance: what is available in the market, what each kind is good for, and which service best suits a particular requirement.
